I was about to say ask ya mama, but I cant go with my first thought. (LOL) Ok my real answer: God made the chicken first, which had a ability to multiply by making the egg.

The chicken came first. The mother's chicken gave birth to the chicken; the chicken was not in an egg, it was born the same way mammals are born. Some prehistoric water/land animal gave  birth to an evolved type of their kind, the first chicken. Then the chicken would have laid an egg, and that is where the cycle begins.
