What came first the chicken or the egg? "Over posted yes but my theory included"?

this is my theory, just dumb ed down for someone who i sent it to:

it was the egg. the answer is simple. due to a cross breed in animals. two birds mixed. and created chickens. but considering there was not enough food to support both the breeds that created the chickens died off. leaving us with no proof

Yes I like your theory.  I believe in evolution so here's my theory, the ancestor of the chicken, the dinosaur, gradually laid eggs.  The eggs had to adapt to the enviroment to survive.  Over time, it turned into a bird.  That species of bird overtime, gradually adapted, and laid an egg that created chickens.

Thats an idea, but I don't think that there is a definitive answer. Because chickens probably came be out of some types of birds mutating (or 'evolving'). So it was a long slow process in which a chicken/chicken egg came to be.

If that makes any sense...
