What came first?The weather or the season?

  1. Well, it has been in the mid teens here in Calgary while the rest of the country is suffering through -40C and 3 ft of snow, and it isn't even Spring yet.

    So I'm going to say the weather here has arrived before the season!

Weather.  During the Jurassic period (for example), there really weren't any seasons to speak of.  The climate was predominantly warm with no glaciation at either pole.  Ergo, (during this period) life experienced weather without enduring the wild variances in temperature associated with seasonal changes.

    Seasons are as a result of the tilt of the Earth on its axis; so seasons are always evident.  However, the seasonal extremes we now experience on this planet have come into being since the end of the last ice age (circa 20,000 years ago).
