What camera can has great sound and picture?

I am currently using an Aiptek witch gives me terrible zoom and sound. I am looking for a camera ($250-$300) that has GREAT sound quality, is able to be edited on the computer and has a nice zoom. Any suggestions?

In the $250-$300, there is NO camcorder with "GREAT" sound.

To do that you need manual audio control and an external mic (so you need an external mic jack).

The cheapest camcorders that meet both these requirements are the Canon HV20, HV30, Sony HDR-HC7 and HC9.

All use miniDV tape, so you need a firewire port on your computer and you will need a firewire (IEEE1394a, i.Link - all the same thing) cable to easily transfer the video through the camera's DV port.
