Question:

What camera is going to give good quality digital camera photos?

Hi,

I recently purchased a Ricoh R8 digital camera and I am disappointed with the picture quality. Additionally, the slightest bump now means that the digital display on the camera is not working and my LCD needs replacement.

Due to the disappointing quality (wrong focus, a lot of noise and general blurriness) I am looking to buy another camera (!!) instead of fixing the Ricoh and despite looking through the internet can not get a decent idea of which camera I should look at.

I am looking for a decent zoom, reasonable megapixel (but not huge), lack of noise and most importantly clear, crisp photos. I am not too fussed if it's a compact or advanced camera.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

  1. ALL point & shoot cameras have issues with noise on higher ISO settings.

If you want a camera with much less noise and no shutter lag, you'll need to go to a DSLR.

Being a Canon girl, I'd suggest looking at one of the digital rebels (depending on your budget). Keep in mind that is more important to buy the best possible lenses, because bodies come and go but the lenses stay with you. Getting good quality lenses will make your life much easier in low light situations.

    If you don't want a DSLR, I'd suggest a Canon S5 IS.

By the way, "general blurriness and wrong focus" are probably not your camera's fault as such, but simply a low light issue that you could overcome by using a tripod and self timer.
