What camera should with having to choose from either: the canon gl2 or the sony vx1000?

i would really like a recomendation and does anyone also know a good place thats reliable to get one and low prices?

Do you have a specific reason for getting a standard definition camera?

Personally, for less $, a Canon HV20 or Sony HDR-HC9 will get you high definition and standard definition onto miniDV tape... and a BeachTeck XLR adapter gets you to good pro-grade XLR mics.

The GL2 or VX1000 *may* be marginally better in really low-light conditions - but not noticeably so.

Recommendations for source:

Amazon.com, B&H Photo, Adorama.com... Be careful of scammers with "lowest prices". Too many of them are either selling gray-market gear or they sell you the camera - and charge extra for the cables, batteries and all the other stuff the real retailers keep in the box from the manufacturers.
