  1. you can buy a VHS cassette that will take your 8mm cassette, plenty of software available to put them all on dvd. if in uk try maplins they stock the VHS cassette that your 8mm tapes go into.

  2. There is an adaptor for the older vhs-c tapes. Not for the minidv cassettes. Check

If you have an analog (VHS) camcorder…

You need an analog converter, either internal card or external such as the dazzle. It's very easy to use and come with good software. You would hook your analog VHS camera or VCR to the analog converter, the dazzle and then hook the dazzle to your PC. The dazzle cost around 70.00 , but worth the money if you have a lot of VHS to tapes to convert.

  3. video 8 is an obsolete format. it only has 240 lines of resolution which is very poor when viewed on modern TV set. you may need to preserve some of the memories that were recorded on these tapes, best done by transfer to DVD.  But to reuse the tapes for new recording is not a good idea.  i would recommend taking the tapes to a photo shop and get the transfer done with their equipment, and invest in new miniDV tape and camcorder.
