What camshaft should i run?

What cam should i run on a 1978 Chevy 350 that is all stock other than im putting 2.02 heads with swirl polished valves and .550 lift valve springs, a holly 650 carb and victor jr. single plane intake, and headers on?

  1. Valve springs don't provide "lift" cam's do, and 550 is to much for this setup.

    I would go with the "RV" cam, it is readily available, very drivable, works well with your manifold/carb setup if you run headers and will give you great torque on the low side for some very impressive tire spin.

    If you have a good shift kit it will chirp the tires when the transmission shifts under heavy throttle. With a manual transmission you can get full on tire spin at the shift point.

    Not that I've ever done any of this, I am just saying......................


  2. go to Jegs.com or Summitracing.com... talk to a tech line...a real person...question is what vehical is it in...a 3000 pound nova or a 6000 pound truck...stick or automatic? what gear ratio...308   or 4.11?
