What can I bring onto an airplane?

I will be leaving for a trip abroad pretty soon. What can I bring on the airplane. I know I can bring a carry on, but what can I have in that carry on?Is lotion ok to have in the carry on? Can I have my digital camera in it? Can I also bring along some magazines?

you can only bring gels or liquids (including lotion) on board if each bottle is under 3 oz and all bottles must fit into one 1 litre clear plastic bag (like a ziplock).  Your camera is perfectly fine. and magazines are fine.  Books, pens pencils etc are all fine.  the things that can't go on are matches/lighters, any fuel, or any sharp objects.  etc etc. check your airlines website if you have more questions. they'll have the answers on there somewhere.
