What can I buy with a peso in Dominican Republic? I know that the exchange rate is $1.00=33.9 pesos.?

So can you give me an example of how much some things might run. For instance I can buy a soda for ___ pesos. Or I can buy a car for __ pesos. A shirt, a painting, a vase, jewelry, cell phone. Whatever. I just want to know how much it would really be worth. Thanks

Really you cannot buy that much with 1 peso. A Halls in the Colmados or maybe a small piece of candy.

A peso can buy you a chewing gum, they sell them individually wrap there. And I mean 1 gum, not a packet.

About buying all the stuff you mentioned about, it totally depends on who you know and where you go to. If you are not Dominican, definitely find a Dominican buddy who can  help you to get some good deals. Good luck and don't let them rip you off.

Car                          depends brand from 700.000 to 4 million

Shirt                         from 350 to 3500 pesos

Painting                   depends painter and size

Vase                        depends size and quality

Cell phone               from 1.000 to 18.000 pesos

A shirt from $200 pesos  (depends on quality, store etc)

A painting from $350 pesos (depends on size a painter)

A vase from $100 (depends on size, quality and store)

Jewelry depends on what it is and weight.

Cell phone from 1,000 pesos to 32,000 pesos (depends on brand and model)

New Car from 600,000 to 5,000,000 pesos (depends on brand and model )
