My son is 11 months old and when he sleeps, he sleeps with his mouth open and drools alot. It is like a big puddle. Well every night it seems that he coughs alot and has a stuffy nose. I run his vaporizer but that seems to dry him out. He is alittle raspy in the morning. The doctor said that he is fine and just change his bed sheet often. Should I get an air purifier or dehumidifier? Whats the difference between the two? Has anyone been through this? thanks for all your answers!

  1. almost everybody is allergic to dust.  11 months old- I wouldn't worry about it too much, and don't go to the extreme cleaning house.  the one thing that may help is to vacuum with a machine that has a hepa filter, along with a furnace filter that removes small pollens, etc, such as  3M or others that can be found at lowes.

Change the pillow on occasion with a new one.  vaporizers may or may not work, depending on having the door open or other air currents in and out of the room,  generally speaking, you'd want the same humidity as the beach to get any good results.  if that is not possible, don't waste your time messing with one.

perhaps you could look into an ionic air purifier to help out, which seems to works better than a humidifier

  2. get an air purifier with a hepa filter

  3. It might help if you got a mattress cover. There is dust in the mattress and there is nothing you can do about it but the cover you can wipe down with a damp rag. If there is carpet in the room you can vacuum often or if its in your budget or if there is hardwood floors underneath, get rid of the carpet because dust settles in the carpet. Get rid of the curtains for the same reason and just have a simple shade you can wipe of with a damp cloth. Keep the decorations simple and get rid of stuffed animals or at least wash often. Just keep with this line of thought. You would go with the air purifier because it would get rid of the dust. A humidifier would only get rid of the humidity. Good Luck!

  4. Yes.  Everybody in our family is also allergic to dust.  After years of trying to vacuum and dust every week without much success, we finally bit the bullet and have a maid come every other week.   She does a very good job, it is money well spent, the house is cleaner and our health is better.  If you are busy (and with an eleven month old I imagine you are) this might be a wise investment of resources.  Ask around among your friends for a reference for a good maid in your area.

  5. u might be surprised to find out it's not dust but fluoridated water
