  1. Hey Blue....

Here's what you do to start out.  You need to make sure your jambs are square.  Take a tape measure and measure the diagonal from bottom left to upper right...and then from bottom right to upper left.  Those measurements MUST be the same for your door to fit properly.  If they are not the same, you must shim the jamb in appropriate spots to accomplish this.  You must also check for plumb.  Take a level and set it along the inside of the jam (inside of the house side) and see if it's "level" or plumb.  Do the same with the outside portion.  You may have to slide it one way or the other before securing it to accomplish this...because that too could cause the door to stick.  If that doesn't work then there are other things to tweak such as tightening door hinges or shimming the door hinges with pieces of thick paper to make it work...but again, if you start out square and plum, it's rare to have to tweak much.  Good luck and let us know what you find out.

The jamb is the frame that goes around the door...what you secure to the rough opening.  It's also what you s***w the door hinges into.

Plumb means perfectly up and down.  Imagine putting a stick in the ground so it's perfectly straight with a 90 degree angle at the base all the way around...that's plumb..

Ha Flor...that calendar was made in my plant...printing and everything!

  2. haha.. Blue, I'm certainly no door expert, but I've seen guys uh, shim it and fix the hinges?  to pull it back square.. or file the wood on the bottom where it closes back to?  Just a few suggestions.. and then those guys at Lowe's or home depot are really helpful..

Oh, I have a do it yourself book, I'll take a peek and come back :)

    Repairing a sticking entry door...

If your door is sticking, you may need to adjust the size of the door to fit the entryway.. It may be as easy as cleaning all of the hinges and removing any buildup of dirt along the door edges.  The next step is to see if adjusting the hinges will alleviate the problem.  Try tightening them.  If the door continues to stick, try sanding the edges of the door...

oops, well, that's all it had really, under installation of storm door.. giggle. they suggest following the manufacturer's directions.. (duh!) LOL.. that helped, not!

Sorry, if you have any more specifics you want me to look up, I will.

** Haha.. sorry, I just checked back.. I'm talking with James on IM now.. well, lol... I will be, he's busy for a moment.. when he gets back I'll have him write you again about the plumb and jam.. hehehe.. sounds like breakfast! :) LOL.. I'm from Arkansas... duct tape will fix it.. haha.. that'll fix anything.. we have the 365 days of duct tape calendar! :)  And you're saying Thank God James has some useful advice.. hehehe...
