My girlfriend gave me her old car before she bought a new one. I have had it for about 10 months but she kept the title in her name. She did put me on her insurance. Now she is filing bankruptcy in virginia. She is going to sign over the car to me but now she has decided she has to file to survive. Will they take the car from me or can she still sign it over to me without getting in trouble.

  1. First things first...is there still a loan on the vehicle?? If not and it's paid in full the vehicle cannot be touched. If there is a loan on it, she can re-affirm the loan and continue to pay. You don't give much info, but if it's bought and paid for you're fine.
