Question:

What can I do about my TMJ if I don't have the money to go to the dentist?

I was diagnosed with TMJ when I was 17. My dentist made me a splint that I had to wear at night. It worked for my pain, but now the splint doesn't fit anymore and I'm beginning to feel a lot of pressure in my jaws and my headaches are getting worse. I don't have the money to get the splint adjusted or to get a new one. Does anyone know a good way to manage the pain associated with TMJ? Over the counter medicine doesn't touch the pain.

  1. Hi. You can try applying moist heat to the affected areas. Also try to eat soft food, and not open your mouth too wide. Good luck!

  2. Try the free health clinic in your area.  You can go to:

    FreeClinicAssociation.com to locate it.

They could help you get the brace you need.
