What can I do about my backyard that has gone out of control with weeds?

Hi, if there is anyone who has an idea about gardening.. I live in Canada. The backyard is overgrown with weeds.. I don't believe it' s possible to put weedkiller down in the middle of summer that would only burn the whole grass and I just can't imagine to pull each weed out by hand.. that would be like cutting the grass of Buckingham Gardens with a pair of scissors.. I don't have the money to have a professional replace the grass at the moment. is there anything at all so that I can at least stop the weeds from spreading to the neigbours gardens as we don't have a fence..Thanks for any advice... x

Interesting Q.If I were U I wouldn't use chemicals, especially if children or pets around. I was going to say that it could be " sheep business", I mean a couple of Shep will do the job, but U don't have fence. That also won't work. why can't U take it  off gradually, each day U do a part of the garden, scheduled work.I wish I knew how to help U in this.Good luck.

well you can get that black garden fencing ..  its plastic  kinda like a border and put that between your yards.. but i do feel you pain.. we just moved into our new first house and the previous people  kinda let it go.. there are some pretty flowers out there that are getting choked by the weeds my my grass is getting eating away.. i am out these every day pulling weeds... they is a powder stuff that is relatively cheap by Scott's lawn turf.. you can get a bag.. i just dont know to use it because my 2 year plays in the grass... good luck!

Every day when your out, pul a few....make sure you get all the roots...aerate your yard...you can buy an aerator at any hardware store...this summer will probably be a wash for a beautiful yard, but if you pull them all now, especially ones on the boundary line, in the fall you can buy a fall turf builder with weed guard.  good luck!!

so why can't u just cut  it like a lawn? i never bother with my lawn and weeds - move them all together, looks green and nice.
