Question:

What can I do about night time hallucinations?

When I am asleep, sometimes I suddenly wake up, but not fully, and I hallucinate various things. Until recently, it was just mice running across my bed and things like that, but recently it's become more frequent and changed to spiders climbing on my bed, and it's made me whimper out loud. Also, last night, I saw a fetus like thing bounce down from my ceiling, and it made me cry aloud.

It's horrible, because I am awake when I see these things, but I have been asleep, and it never happens during the day. How can I help or prevent this?

  1. I don't know how to help or prevent it from happening. Some reasons why it might be occurring is you're feeling insecure about something. Dreams occur when your brain is cataloging and filing and going through the days events and memories. And things can get pretty weird when memories from the past week get all mixed up together. Hallucinations are just dreams that seem more real than other and that occur when you're in the transition between being asleep and awake. I've had some really scary hallucinations before myself, trust me, one of them had me screaming in a cold sweat and it took my parents half an hour to convince me that it was just a dream and not real. If these hallucinations continue and also continue to get worse I'd suggest seeing a psychiatrist or someone similar, because it is serious having hallucinations and people have been known to go mad and commit suicide over them, so if you're really worried about them see a professional. It won't hurt and it may just help you sleep easier. Good luck, hope they go away soon.
