Question:

What can I do about swarming horse flies?

I have a swarm of horse flies around my house lately. I have a long private drive, and they follow my car all the way down the long drive and even out onto the main road until I go fast enough to get rid of them. Then, when I return, they meet my car again at the end of the drive and swarm the vehicle until I park it. Same thing happens with both 3 different cars.

This is our first summer in the country, so is this just a fact of life for "country living" -- or is it a "freak" infestation that will die out after a period?

Are there certain "things" we might have around the exterior of our home (trash cans, etc.) that would increase the likelihood that horse flies would be attracted to the area and reproducing in large numbers?

Your help is appreciated -- especially if you have something particularly helpful to contribute.

I'm not kidding. These fly traps work. We don't have horse flies, but tons of regular ones and it draws them in and kills them. It looks really gross after about a week, then you throw it away. It's also organic -- no harsh chemicals. Their web site is pretty funny, too.
