What can I do about these horses being ill treated?

I go and hang with these horses quite a lot that live near me. I take them Polos and apples and stuff and really like them.

Today these yobs were throwing stones at them and we got into a fight. When I got home I told my brother (who is my guardian)

He rang the police, but of course the bad people had long gone. I tried to take a photo with my mobile, but the police say it's not good enough.

The boys threatened me and now my brother says I have to keep away from there in case they come and start on me because they'll know I told the police because the police went and looked round.

I think it is so unfair that I can't go and see them anymore, and that they have to miss out on Polos, but how can I stop the boys from doing it again if I don't go and keep an eye at least sometimes.

I don't know who owns the horses, they are just always there.

  1. Call the SPCA.....and check into your local farm programs...there's LOTS of people there who will take you very seriously.

  2. If the boys threatened you, the police should be able to take a report and possibly round them up.

Ask around the area and see if anyone know who the horses belong to.  If you find out, tell the owners about the boys throwing rocks at the animals.

If the horses are being neglected, call your local Humane Society, animal shelter or the ASPCA.

If you decide to frequent the area, try to do so in such a way as to not be seen if the boys are around so you don't get hurt.  Get some pictures of them in action if you can and then call the police....or get a video clip.

    Don't give up!

  3. well josie i think you need to see if there is a house around you and go to them, but if not contact your spca about it are the human society and please keep calling the cops, someone has to defend these horses and please dont be afraid of those boys, bring a bat are a real good sling shot, they come after you itis self defense and i am a series animal lover i have rescued 2 myself and have them at my home. dont give up on them, they need you.

  4. Find out the owner before you ever go off and feed some one elses horses. The horse could get sick and die because of you. Also I would inform the owners about the rock throwing and let them handle it. Once the police solve the case, ask the owners if you can feed there horses.

  5. josie thats horrible

im sorry you have to see people doing that and now feel bad that you cant see the horses

but as everyone has said all you can do is call the authorities and tell them

ask your brother if you can go at times you are maybe sure that they wont be there

or if he can go with you, or someone else go with you

but if you cant have soemone or know you will be safe, you cant be putting your self in jeapordy and danger

you wont help the horses doing that

maybe ask about, see if you can find out whos horses they are, someone is bound to know,

im sorry this upsets you, im upset too now ;-(

but someone is bound to help them at some point if you cant

most people do, they are not all like those boys

i hope you can feel better

  6. Well what would you do if that gang of chavs, (who are probably drunk on cider) started to attack you? what could you do? Nothing

    You're from england, right?

you've seen how many stories in the news there are, about all sorts of people being killed by the type of people who were throwing stones at the horses! is it worth risking your life to protect those horses?

And the type of peopel that will throw stones at horses for no reason are obviously evil, so theres no reason to think why they wouldnt attack you if they wanted

Also what if one of the horses went crazy when one of the stones hit em? and then attacked you?

id say try to go and find out who owns the horses! maybe go to the council to find out who owns the land?

    and tell them whats happening!

OR maybe call the RSPCA or another animal charity, they might investigate!

    bye

  7. take someone with u if  u rly want to go

  8. See if your brother will help you find the owner.  Or locate the owner yourself.  Whoever owns those horses should be made aware of what is going on.  I agree that your safety could be compromised because of your confrontation.  However, maybe you took care of it already by being brave and standing up to them.  If they are throwing stones at fenced in horses, they are probably all talk anyway. Good for you!

Add: and I also agree that you shouldn't feed horses without permission.

  9. If you don't know who owns the horses, then you shouldn't be hanging out and feeding them. If you want, you can hide and get a video camera to video tape them and then send the video to the police, or you can put a note on the owners door say that there are people harassing their horses.

  10. Can you try to call a humane society or animal rescue association?  They could help you figure out what to do.  Someone needs to be caring for these horses...

  11. I have to agree with Hill Bicks - the first thing that you should consider is your own safety, you have no idea what these people are drinking/smoking or sniffing and you really want to avoid them. Find out who the horses belong to - it can't be so difficult if they are always there. Ask around locally or talk to the Council. Also tell the Council about the yobs - they have neighbourhood officers who can keep an eye on what is going on ( but they won't unless someone reports it to them) Also report it too the RSPCA - they probably won't do anything at the moment but they will keep a note of it so if anything else happens there will be backup to the story.

Stop feeding stuff to the horses - I know that sounds mean but horses have ridiculously sensitive stomachs.

I know I wouldn't want random people feeding my horses as it can cause a lot of problems ( my friend's horse nearly died because some kind person gave it all their grass cuttings)

I am sure that if you can find the person who owns them they will be very grateful to you for telling them about the yobbos and they will be able to tell you what you can safely feed to the horses.

  12. tell the owners of the horses
