Question:

What can I do about vaginal itchiness during pregnancy?

I am 36 weeks pregnant. I do have discharge; however, it is the same milky like substance that I've had the entire pregnancy. There is no odor and I can't see down there (even using a mirror) as my belly is in the way. My husband looked and didn't notice any increased redness. There is not pain during urination and I don't use soap in that area. Also, I've only been wearing cotton bikini panties.

  1. I have the same problem.. it hurts when I use bar soap down there and the skin is generally tight and itchy.

Does it kind of sting when you have intercourse too??

I started using Summers Eve senitive skin wash and bought some yeast infection cream that I put on when I feel itchy...

    Hope this helps!

  2. It could be thrush. Hormones did this to me during my pregnancy. You are able to get over the counter cream (just insure its safe to use while pregnant)

  3. It could be a yeast infection. Lord knows I got them in my third trimester. Get your husband to see if it is red and blotchy, like a yeast infection. If so, you can still use canesten while pregnant.

  4. YOu can use monistat creme and just put it down there. It will take the itch away. Oh yah, for anyone who's daughters come down with chickenpox,  monistat also works for the itchiness of the sores in the vaginal area.  WAs told by the doctor to use it.

  5. see a doctor just incase its some kind of infecion and for some cream to stop the itching.

  6. get a scratchy thing and scratch scratch SCRATCH!

    MEOW

  7. I know what you mean because I have it. With me, its on my OUTER labia and not inside like a yeast infection. I know its not a yeast infection for sure. I asked my doctor about it and he said its all the extra moisture down there from discharge. It gets humid, it gets itchy and irritated.

Here was his advice and what I live with every day now:

*All cotton panties but not too tight. Change them as soon as they become damp or moist.

*If you can, like if you are home and wearing a dress, go without panties to air things out. Use a hairdryer (on cool) after a shower to make sure its dry.

*Use something like vagisil to sooth irritation that is already there.

*Wear pantyliners if you need to but change often.

    * Cornstarch or baby powder!!!!

Sucks huh. Just keep it dry, keep it soothed and aired out. Not long now!

  8. Well if there is itching you should go see your doctor. You probably have an infection of some sort that will need to be treated if it is one.
