  1. Daintree is the rainforest, there are loads of different tours available.

  2. The Daintree region is located north of Cairns in the tropics of Northern Australia. Composed of two primary areas, Daintree and Cape Tribulation. The region thrives on a delicate balance between nature and civilisation. With the Daintree Rainforest and the Daintree National Park, the region measures roughly over 1200 square km. The region is home to some of Australia's most lush forests and thriving animal life :).

It is teeming with flora and fauna unseen in the dry and sparse Outback landscape. In fact, the Daintree Rainforest in the region is considered to be home to the largest collection of plants and animals in the world. Such is the fame of the region's thriving biota that the World Heritage List included it in 1988 as an exceptional example of ecological balance and biological diversity. But instead of being a closed-out affair, the rainforest and the park are open for visits. Visitors can hike along trails around Daintree, stop at scenic spots, eat on picnic grounds, and even swim in the numerous swimming holes in the rainforest. But, despite its beauty and welcoming atmosphere, the rainforest is still embedded with its fair share of scare. With crocodiles and spiders around, Daintree is the perfect place for adventure and communing with nature.

If playing tag with crocs or swat-the-spider is not one's cup of tea, the region offers Cape Tribulation. Located some 36km. north of the Daintree River, the place was once known as Kurangee and inhabited by the Aborigines. Although its name sounds ominous for any kind of relaxation, Cape Tribulation is where one can find a resort or two and even superb restaurants in the midst of the wilderness.

Situated within the Daintree National Park, Cape offers the best of both worlds. It has the comforts of city life within and the rough wild at its doorstep. Named by James Cook, as the land where his troubles, hence tribulations started, the area is a place to end one's wilderness problems. With beaches and resorts like PK's Jungle Village and Cape Trib beach House offering topnotch service, visitors can relax and at the same time, enjoy the view at these scenic locations.

As far as animal life go, Cape Tribulation has less crocs than Daintree but has an extensive collection of prehistoric fowls, the cassowary, still alive in Cape Tribulation in flocks. With the lush greenery and ancient animals, Cape Trib is the perfect choice for a modern holiday in a prehistoric setting.

Things to do at Daintree - based on my experience:

    1. Get a massage at Daintree ecolodge and feast on the gourmet bush tucker food (A perfect way to finish your holiday).

I did this last year, it's very relaxing. Daintree ecolodge spa was voted to be one of the best by Conde Nest Traveller and it doesn't cost a fortune. I had a massage (straight after the massage they gave me tea and fruit to bring me back to the world) then followed by a dip in their swimming pool.

Afterwards, I had a feast at their floating restaurant (floting in a pond). I had prawns served with bush nuts and leaves (it's a salad) but very very scrumptious and filling. I had it wiht a glass of sparkling and finished it with devonshire tea :).

    2. Go swimming in Mossman Gorge and spend time soaking on the surrounding atmosphere followed by an ice cream from one of their very small convinient store

The gorge has a very refreshing cool water. I jumped, swam, played around and lied next to the gorge. I was told at the end of the gorge there's a crocodile which lived there for a while but there's no way of it heading to the gorge because the gorge is higher than the river where the crocodile lived. I spent one whole day there and didn't see a soul :) so don't worry about the crocs and just swim and stay within the Gorge.

    3. Join a Daintree River cruise at Daintree river followed a visit to Daintree timber gallery.

You get to experience seeing mangroves and wildlife (including crocodiles) :) then you can go shopping at the timber gallery :)

    4. Join a birdwatching tour

A friend of mine did it and they saw a lot of different species of birds including the 'right in your face type one cassowary :)

    5. Walk around in one of the many of Daintree rainforest national park where you get to see rainforest trees

    6. Go scuba diving at the great barrier reef from Cape Tribulation where you only see your boat and another boat unlike different parts of the reef where you get to see a lot of tourists :).

    7. Go relaxing at one of the Cape Tribulation lodges where you're completely surrounded by yourself and could hear the sounds of crickets due to its remote locations and quietness.
