  1. Margaret River is lovely and if you are into visiting wineries there are more than you can ever get around. If you like wineries try Fermoy. The Lavendar farm is also great and has wine ,a nice cafe and lots of lavender products. The lavender cheesecake was absolutely delicious! The town is small but pretty and has some nice restaurants etc.

Bunbury and Mandurah are worth a look on the way through. The drive down is pretty boring as the "Coast Rd" is not actually on the coast.

Port Augusta Lighthouse is well worth a visit - a little further south and Busselton is a nice little place. Walk out on the pier - about 1.4 kms each way. There is an underwater aquarium at the end but you need to book .

Rockingham is also worth having a look around. We were lucky to catch a mussel festival and beach art display which was great. The beach is very nice.

Hope you enjoy your time in Perth.

  2. A visit to the Pinnacles is worth a look but wouldn't take all weekend. A tour of the southwest through Margaret River, Yallingup, Ausgusta would fill a weekend. Everything is quite close together and there are winerys, breweries, a chocolate factory, beautiful scenery. You would probably need a vehicle to do this but it would be very rewarding.

  3. The South West is always a Favourite. Margaret River, Dunsborough. I like Pemberton. Because its starting to get colder, you can go for a drive up north. Jurien Bay, or even Kalbarri is great this time of year and still Warm

  4. Go on the Steam Train at Hotham Valley Railway in Dwellingup.

Stay in Dwellingup and enjoy the weekend. There is so much to do and see around Dwellingup. It's a very relaxing place and many tourists miss out on it.

  5. Sunday afternoon in Fremantle, looking through the markets, having fish and chips on the fishing boat harbour then walking down the beach is always good.

  6. I would definitely recommend Margaret River. You can stay somewhere for around $80-$100 per night, plus theres lots a things to see and do. If you cant get a car, the bus costs around $50- Cheaper than driving with fuel prices anyway! Most hotels are central and walking distance to the town centre. There are a variety of great Wine tours to go on. These usually take you to around 3 wineries, 1 brewery and the Chocolate and Cheese Factories. Most tours also provide lunch and I would recommend Big Day Out Tours, which only charge $65.00 per person, as oppose to others that offer the same thing yet charge over $100.00. The tours usually from 10am-5pm. The caves are also another great thing to check out in Margaret River, as they have such a fantastic history and magical feel about them.

Wineries I suggest are: Woodlands Wines, Cullen, Vasse Felix, Witchcliffe Estate and the Berry Farm.

I hope this info has helped and that you will come to Margaret River on your trip, any questions please ask!

  7. It depends what kind of break you want and how far you are willing to travel, I suppose.

For a short drive and a short stay I recommend going up for a picnic or something and spending a day near Kallamunda or the surrounding area. Araluen is also beautiful and it has a great botanical garden.

For further away and a longer stay I can pretty much suggest any country town, I especially love Yallingup, but you could really go anywhere. Other people have suggested some great things.

Exploring is good too, just see where the road takes you.

    Have fun :)
