What can I do be better at playing electric guitar?

I want to learn to play music such as Unearth or atreyu on my guitar. But I don't know what to practice, or even how to practice. By no means am I a newbie guitar player though, like I can play riffs from songs like Sweet child o mine and Paranoid, but I want to know how to make solos and play all around metal guitar. Please post any tips or sites you think could help. Thanks!

Take lessons, if you don't know about music theory you can't teach yourself.

Just by playing riffs you won't get any better. You need to know the scales.

Listen to blues.

Practicing scales is good but you should learn more songs. Different types to broaden your horizon. Play stuff from System of a Down, Metallica, Creed, and other stuff. I mainly learned by playing alot of metallica. Then I gradually got into harder stuff. You can do it.

You're stuck and the only way to get you on the right track is to take lessons. It's expensive but you'll get more out of it then teaching yourself.

there are 3 techniques that come from the self

1.practice you have to practice alot thats how you will become famous

2.self determination you have to say and think that yes i can do this and be focused at all times

3.passion for it you can be very good if you have passion for it and do it alot
