What can I do/buy/see in Milan?

no discounts there, english is ok to use,go to the opera house called la scalla, the church where the painting of the last supper can be seen, emanuel victoria shopping mall , via spiga and via napelone all have the best and exxpensive shops

"How much is this?'" = "Quanto costa questo?"

Quanto = How Much

Costa = it costs

Questo = This

"Can I get a discount?" = "Mi puo' fare uno sconto?"

Mi puo' fare = Can I get

uno = a

sconto = discount

But in Milan you usually don't ask for a discount. Price in shops are fixed. Only in markets that sell used items you can ask for a discount.

In Milan you can see the Duomo, a big gothic cathedral in Piazza Duomo, Duomo square, the heart of the city.

The Castello Sforzesco, a medieval castle. Inside Castello Sforzesco there are some interesting museums about sculpture   and ancient Egypt.

La Scala, a famous opera theater.

Poldi Pezzoli Museum has a very nice exhibition of ancient weapons (in middle age Milan was famous in all Europe for its smiths), laces, and ancient watches from XVI century.

Duomo, Castello Sforzesco, Scala and Poldi Pezzoli are very near. You can have a walk and see all of them.

Brera Museum has an importan picture gallery. The part of the city around Brera is very nice, with little streets and nice shops.

If you like walking, you can go walking even here.

In Santa Maria delle Grazie church, in Corso Magenta, you can see the famous Last Supper painting by Leonardo da Vinci.

The part of the city around Naviglio Grande (waterway) is where you can find more pubs and bars. You can go here in the evening for Happy Hour or dinner.

Milan is the most expensive town in Italy so I don't recommend it for shopping, but if you want, you can find the most luxury shops in Via Monte Napoleone or Via della Spiga. You can find here brands like Valentino or Prada.

Nice but a lot less expensive clothing shops are in Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, a pedestrian precinct that begin in Piazza Duomo.

Some informations: in Italy shops close around lunch time, usually between 13.00 and 15:30. Only in the center of the town you can find shops that don't close for lunch.

In the evening they close at 19:30.

Monday morning and Sunday shops are closed. Shops that sell food are closed Monday afternoon instead of morning.

In Sunday you can find open only Pasticcerie (pastry shops), but often they are closed Monday all day.

In Italy is not so common to find people that speak English outside touristic places, so i suggest you to have always a little English-Italian dictionary with you.

We usually have dinner at 19:30-21, so you can't find restaurants open for dinner before 19:00.

It's enough to just say "Quanto costa?" while you're holding or pointing to the item.  Why do you think you would be entitled to a discount?  

If you want to see The Last Supper you MUST reserve in advance.  I went on a non-holiday weekend in March and they were booked several weeks in advance.  High season is even busier.  Book through the official website; you shouldn't have to pay any money for renovations.

There is a fantastic, tiny little restaurant that is open for lunch on weekdays.  It serves only vegetarian food and you'll probably have to share your table with a local businessman eating lunch... it's GREAT.  I'll link to the info below in case you're interested.

When I lived in Italy my city didn't have a cinema that played English movies, so I was always excited to go to Milan and catch a film.  If you're looking to veg out one night you can go to the cinema by the Duomo (just past Galleria Vittoria Emanuele down the road of the same name).  They always have one feature film playing in English (with Italian subtitles of course).  

I would say you can miss the Duomo rooftop (when I went the area that you could walk around in was like, three meters).  The crypt in the Duomo is really cheap (about EUR 2), silent and peaceful.  I really liked it down there.  Remember not to take flash photos during any church services at the Duomo or any other church you visit.

Saldi means discount. (But it's not polite to ask)

Go to Zara, H&M, Dolce&Gabbana... Visit the Castelo Gondolfo, La Scala, Il Duomo (the Cathedral), Monument of Vittorio Emanuelle,  CIAO!!!
