I broke my knuckle for i think the 3rd time, but it's been a while and I really need to train for a fight. Can anyone remeber how long it will take to be able to hit the heavy bag or even mits. I don't want to mess it up anymore and I also don't want to tell any of my trainers. Thank you for the help.

  1. nothing really you can do,  it could take 4 to 6 weeks before your good to go

  2. well i have had a similar problem. i did a tournament with a broken foot (was painful).. you just have to punch with your opposite hand and throw fakes with your broken, i know it will be difficult but you don't have much of a choice

  3. William P 100%

  4. You gotta let the trainers know.  They will eventually put 2 and 2 together when you refuse to hit with your injured hand.  If you happen to slip it past them how effective will you be with one hand.  Even if it feels better and you hit with it then it breaks again?  You are really risking serious injury.  It is almost as bad as not tapping in an armbar because you have too much pride.  There is not one fight worth jeopardizing the rest of your life over.  You could end up with some serious problems if you're not careful.  I hate to be lecturing, but it's really in your best interests to get healed before you fight.

  5. Knuckles are tricky and can take quite awhile to heal even in normal conditions. Unfortunatly you are going to have to stop training until you are healed completely.  check with your Dr and make sure none of the training you have done so far has injured it even more see if they can recommend anything to quicken the healing process. hand injury are often thought to be healed when in fact you just become used to the pain, people tend to think, "well if it don't hurt it's not broken anymore",  and one wrong strike can shatter the already weakened bone.  Be honest with your trainer, better to set your fight back a month then to fight with a bad wing and be grounded for good!!

    Good luck!!

  6. Your hands are your tools. you must take care of them if you want to fight. Believe me when i tell you that i have a forty year old injury that i didn't take care of properly and to this day it bothers me.

A lot of heart and a hard head can end a promising career.

  7. Ouch! Clearly stop punching things so hard. That sounds awful!

  8. Well for one it's all in your punch and I hate to knock a trainer, but if your trainer/s haven't taught you to punch using only your index and middle knuckles on each hand then they're idiots!!!! ( Then again most  High School Wrestling Coaches are when it comes to proper MMA training )

Find a real school and a real trainer or trainers.  My white Belts know to throw a punch using only their index finger and middle finger knuckles and they land them that way every time or else they're quickly re-evaluated and some times even kicked from my team if they fail to land punches that exact way every time.

If your trainers were worth two spits they'd test your punching skills with a target bag at random throughout your training and check to see where the redness is on your knuckles and if the redness wasn't on only the index and middle knuckles then your a** would be grass and a good trainer would be the lawn mower!! To this day I even do this little test on my most experienced students with out them realizing it of course.

Broken bones can happen, but such a injury as yours should never happen....you've been dooped!!!  Go get your money back!!!

People like your trainers are ruining my sport!!!!!!!!
