Question:

What can I do if my $350 package has been stolen from the mail box?

I ordered $350 worth of clothes off of Burning Airlines for school. The website says that it usually takes 1-3 weeks to ship since they order from 50 different manufacturers. Tomorrow will make 4 weeks since I placed my order. I got a package not too long ago and my mailman irresponsibly set the box on top of the mailbox, out in the open, because it was too big to fit. Luckily, I saw it soon after the mail ran. I'm thinking it's quite possible that my package has been stolen. How do I prove this? I've emailed Burning Airlines and they won't respond. What do I do? That's a lot of money to just blow away.

  1. Did you have a camera set up?

Yeah, sometimes life just screws us over.. I had to pay a 1,000$ electric bill once because someone stole the power with cables from the side of my apartment.

  2. This is why insurance is offered for expensive packages. Then you need to sign for them.

  3. I would think that the post office would leave you a paper saying you have to pick you package up at the post office and would want your signature.  I've never had them leave anything out that could get stolen.  Chances are, you didn't get it yet.  Mail orders are horrible.

  4. Contact your local post office.  They should be able to give detailed information on the package.  If it was stolen, that is a federal crime to tamper with the mail.

  5. first of all, the keyword is USUALLY.  Which means it may take longer...

First, you need to calm down and stop asking the same question over and over.

Second, you should call your postmaster at the post office and request that your packages no longer be placed on top of your mailbox.

Third, talk to your neighbors and see if they saw anything.

If they don't come in another week or two, the company hasn't responded, and no one saw anything, then call the police and file a lost or stolen property report. You don't have a whole lot to go on, and you may end up not getting your stuff back, but your experience might be able to help other customers and citizens in your neighborhood.
