What can I do in Casablanca with a baby?

I have an eleven hour layover in Casablanca before I continue on to my destination (Ghana). I'll be traveling alone with my 19-month-old son.

The layover is from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. I'll probably just stay at the airport... is there any place where I can take a nap? A restaurant where I can get some Bastilla and sit for a very lonnnng time?

Any other suggestions?

  1. dont you mean what cant you do? loool

moroccan women take their kids with them every where. wallah. go to an all nighter wedding you will find babies.

casabalnca airport is a fair way from rest of casa. but they hav elots of places withen the airport to sit/rest and eat. you will find lots of other africans there. ilove it when i go its the only time and only place you get to see other africans from all over africa its cool.

tahts a long time to be there, yeah its not worth going out of airport cost you a few bob, i mean money.

no casa airport is best becuase its well air conditioned and they have palces to rest and eat, resturants etc etc.

they haev lots of shops tooo, which i love. i did get board after 3 hours though. and beware of some of teh arab men, can be too friendly at times.

    good luck

  2. I was in the airport for a long layover a couple years ago.  (Now I fly direct into Marrakech and bypass Casa).  I remember looking for a place to sleep.  There is no specific place, like a hotel, or a sleeping room/compartment.  However, the seats are not too bad.  You can do the best you can to lay across three to get a bit of rest.  There are lots of restaurants there, however, I am not sure how long you can sit there for.   One bit of advice - the toilets on the main floor (before check-in) are way cleaner than the ones on higher levels.  I found the main floor ones to be free of cockroaches and the ones on higher levels, full of cockroaches.

There is a train that can take you into Casa city that leaves from the airport.  It takes about an hour.  I am not sure if you want to take a quick run out.  It really is your perogative.

  3. Actually there are no Hotels in proximity of the Airport, and it's 30km from downtown. However, there is a train station in the underground of the main Hall. The train will take you to downtown Casablanca in 45 minutes. It costs 3,60 € for an adult and 1,80 for a kid first class (for your baby it would be free i guess, unless you want to seat him :) )

It's available from 6h50 to 22h50 everyday of the week.

It's more interesting than spending 11 hours in the airport, but don't take a chance and come back a full hour before your flight :)

  4. I just came back from a very long layover in casa. A lot of people were sleeping on the chairs and on the floor, they had all brought blankets a little cushions with them, i was kicking myself for not bringing any - So i would definitely recommend doing that! There are some shops and a big cafe but they don't sell bastilla they sell hot drinks, sandwich's, and snacks. They have wifi if you have a laptop! I wouldn't recommend leaving the airport it's not really near the main town and you don't want to risk missing your flight! You could just go for a walk outside the airport. Take some toys for your baby to play with. Good luck i hope time flies by!
