I'm a student who's applying for medical school. I was also planning on taking a gap year. I was wondering if working at a pharmacy in say, Canada would be beneficial to me during my gap year? If so, for how long? Also I'd like any other suggestions for my gap year. I'd preferably stay in the UK (London?) but I'm open to all suggestions. As I'm doing medicine what could I do during my gap year?

  1. I wouldn't recommend a gap year if you can help it, but heres some good ideas. Travel the world, this is pretty common. Go live in a 3rd world country, things like that. Join Peace Corps, or another charitable organization. Join teach for america, or the british equivalent. Med schools love this, and they'll hold you spot for up to 2 years so you can do it. You basically go teach in imporverished parts of your country. Working as a pharmacist assistant isn't bad, but unless you need the money its really not worth taking a year off of med school for it. I mean, you're going to be a doctor after all :)
