  1. You need to practice. Let me start out by saying that I went up from 1980 to 2180 and was accepted early to UPenn-Wharton. You should be a big book that talks about each section. The Writing Section is all about practicing. You must learn how to write an essay (go directly to the point, your introduction should be one sentence, no need for conclusion). The other parts of writing only test 14 different writing problems, which were listed in the Kaplan Book I bought, I went up from 650 to 730 in this section.

Also, you should focus on your weakest section. I received a 630 on the critical reading section and focused primarily on this one. I bought a kaplan book specifically for this section, and answered only this section in a Princeton Review book I bought with only practice tests. Also, there is a small book called Increase Your Score in 3 Minutes a Day: SAT Critical Reading which was really helpful becuase it gave strategies for doing better that werent explained anywere else. Read fast, get interested in the topic, and widening you eye vision were some of the suggestions. Good luck!
