What can I do or need to know about taking a 01 Nissan Sentra up to the mountans of CO from TX?

I have had the car since 2004, 88000 miles on it now..I have only taken the car out of the Dallas FW area once and that was last november up to Arkansas in the Ozark and Boston mountains, a cv joint is messed up in the front right tire region...What prevenative maintaince could I do and what else is there thats important I could be forgeting?

  1. J.R.'s advise is spot on.  

    All that I can add is to Rain-X the windows.  Your ability to see and drive in the rain will be vastly improved with the use of Rain-X.  After you buff out the second coat of Rain-X, I mist some water on the windshield and wipe off with a paper towel.  Gets rid of the streaking which can occur with Rain-X.  When you hit rain during your trip, the drops will just fly off the window WITHOUT the use of the wipers.

  2. Fix the CV joint.  Have your oil changed and your air filter checked.  Then go to Colorado.

    The days of altitude problems are long gone.  Fuel injection and computers will insure that your car will run properly.
