Every time I try to put my flute together, I have a hard time sliding the head joint and the foot joint into the body. My director told me to use steel wool, but I don't know which kind to use! Please help!!!!!!!!!!

  1. go to your music store and tell them your promlem.

they gave me some grease stuff in a little circle tube, it was white and it worked like a pro.

just rember to make sure you clean the head and foot joint with your flute cloth. and dont put too much or it will slip off.

  2. What i do is either clean the inside of the head joint area where it attaches and all the other attachment places. IF that doesn't work, i usually put a tiny bit of chapstick on my finger and rub that area the area that is stuck before you try to attach it.

  3. Hi Pisces.   Your director is mistaken with what to do about making your flute pieces go together easier.   If you want to know what professionals think... call your local music store that has a repair shop inside and I promise they will  advise highly against it.   There is a couple of reasons your flute is not fitting together easily...   1.... the ends may be out of round.. meaning bent or  2.....  the inside of your flute pieces might be grimey/gunky/or dirty.     In the 1st case,  you can have a woodwind repair guy to round them back out.  Takes about 3 minutes and they might not even charge you anything.    In the 2nd case,  take some silver polish on your finger and clean the inside barrels... if they are grimey, your finger will come back out all black.   You may have to repeat the process a couple of times.  Then take a soft clean T-shirt material and dry out and polish the inside.  Do the same cleaning to the outside of the headjoint and body.   If you decide to steel wool the metal... rest assure you are going to ruin the thickness of the flute's tubing... and before you do that.. unless you purchased the flute yourself, you need to get permission from your parents.  This is absolutely a mistake.  Hope you are smart enough to listen to this expert advice.

  4. Just go to your local hardware store and pick up steel wool, it comes in a clear package and rolled up in like a swirl. Also try using a very small amount of WD-40. Best of luck with your flute!
