What can I do to a finance company who calls my house 8 to 10 times a day?

I have sent letters, E-mails, and spoke to there office managers To stop calling my house if my bill is due in a week they call to remind me the calls start at 8:00am and continue until 8:00pm every day until I tell them the payment has been sent I have 3 accounts with this company WHAT a mistake they will sometimes apply the payment to one of the other accounts and then charge me interest and late fees I need some help to stop this harassment I am on my last nerve.

  1. tell them your lawyer will be speaking to them if they don't stop calling.  and i would be moving my accounts if i were you


  2. If you have tried on your own, become familiar with the "Fair Debt Collection Act" and utelize that information (google it).  If you have done that stuff, file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission or your attorney general.  

    They can call as often as they want if you do not answer your phone, but if they call repeatedly within the same day on the same issue and you talk to them each time, that is clearly a harrassment issue and a violation.

    I have found it very effective to inform them YOU are recording the conversation and if THEY do not like it, they can terminate the call.  This is entirely your right to do, as long as you inform them.  Gets them all riled up and it's kind of fun.

    If your bill is due in a week and not overdue, they can not call you and remind you to pay it if you tell them not to call.  To avoid legal fees, start by filing complaints.  Otherwise, you may need to get legal counsel, or you can try financial councelling; they can be helpful even in these situations.
