What can I do to better myself?

No, I'm not talking about looks or social stuff, just myself. What can I do to make myself wiser and more intelligent? What can I practice that can give me a unique skill, or something useful? What can I learn about that can make me a better person? What books can I read, music can I listen to, movies I can watch, that will have a profound effect on me and make me think about doing some good for the world? How can I do some good for the world?

You don't have to answer all of these questions, but I hope you come up with something. No, I'm not stupid, I'm simply a curious kid. They say curiosity killed the cat, but it has been my friend in many occasions. You see, I'm simply on my summer vacation, and I recently moved, so I don't have too many friends here. I waste time a lot, and I want to know if there's anything you can tell me to do that will help me out. Anything at all. Just be serious. If you don't have anything positive to say, don't say anything. You'll just be wasting time....

  1. that's really good i think that you have a spurt of curiousity like that... and whats better is the more you actually want to learn and bring new experiences to you the more it will happen. it still happens if you don't want it too but you seem to get a better grasp for ****.

anywho, i think that's great if you actually are a kid (i dont know what age "kid" is defined under) but none the less if youre interested, here's my e-mail.

  2. You will (we are hopeful) become wiser as you gain more experience in life (eg: get older).  Intelligence, you're kind of stuck with more or less from birth, but you can seem more intelligent if you have lots of knowledge and skills.  You can gain more skills and knowledge to help you live long enough to gain wisdom, by getting a good education.  Learning a practical skill will make you useful:  carpentry, plumbing, mechanics, even basketweaving, anything that you can do with your hands.  Learn a musical instrument -- not just picking around by yourself on a guitar, but real music theory and technique, any instrument.  Listen to the musical classics (yes, all those old dead guys like Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, Brahms, and the rest of them).  Read classic literature -- read the real original full versions, not the "Illustrated Classics" versions -- but if it's good enough to be made into an "Illustrated Classics" version, it's a classic so check out that list.  Don't forget the poetry, too.  And don't forget the Bible -- even if you don't believe in what it says, the literature in there is amazing, and there's a lot of life that refers to it, so religion or not, it's a good choice.  Try several different versions:  KJV, NIV, and NASB at minimum.  Movies -- there are a lot of movies that are classics.  Try Turner Classic Movies for a suggestion list, the original black-and-white versions, not the colorized.  Learn to appreciate the b&w as art.  You can do some good for the world by first becoming an adult that will make your parents proud; get a good education, have a stable family (eventually; don't be in a big rush), be a moral/ethical person, and be happy.
