Question:

What can I do to change the world with a baby?

I have a one year old, and I am a stay at home mom right now. I am feeling kind of bored with my life at the moment. I was wondering what I can do with a baby tag-along, in my community or anything, to help others (that won't endanger my baby)?

  1. Wow.  I'm looking for some suggestions myself.

I just wanted you to know there is someone out there who understands your need to make a difference.  If you're anything like me, you probably tell yourself each day that you're making the world a better place by raising your child to be a strong, intelligent person - but sometimes that in itself doesn't feel like enough.

Hooray for us SAHMs - hopefully we will find a way to contribute to our communities and take care of our babies.

  2. This might not sounds world-changing, but here's one suggestion.  Where I live, there are some programs where moms and babies/toddlers go visit retirement homes.  The seniors love having babies visit, and while you may not change the world, you will make it a brighter place for some. :)

  3. Yes, participate in an adopt-a-grandparent program at a local retirement home or convalescent home.  It may not change the world, but it can be your little bit to bring some happiness to some elderly people's lives.  Many have no one visiting them.  The best thing you can do to change the world right now is raise your child to be a good person.  Good luck!!  :)

  4. contact your local volunteer association.

also try goodwill, salvation army, red cross, habitat for humanity, st vincent de paul, and the like.
