Practice routines, basketball drills, excercise routines, foods to eat, etc.

Anything will help...

  1. SPRINTING up hills is an amazing workout for basketball players! it also will greatly help you with your vertical leap.

  2. Running is the best answer! You have to be in good condition to play basketball! If you have ever played ball before you know standard drills you can do by yourself. Lay ups, Spot Shooting. If you have a friend that can help you practice them passing you the ball and then going up with the shot immediately! As for certain food to eat, just make sure you eat healthy, and drink plenty of water while training!

  3. quit

  4. Run. Conditioning is more mental than anything (expcept for those with an iron problem...but that's another story)...

Suicide drills will be at your tryouts. Coaches will make you do these A LOT. You need to work on doing three or so at a time. Just in between games and stuff.

As for drills, well, you just need to play and work on the fundamentals. Without knowing your skill set, I'd say your best bet is to focus on your defensive intensity and hustle. Coaches love that. And if you show it, they'll keep you around. From there, you can prove your worth on offense.

As for foods...well, a lot of people follow strict diets before they play. But Wilt Chamberlain averaged over 48 MPG one year, and he used to eat a bucket of KFC and a two liter of 7-Up before games. Eddie House eats fried chicken, and Derrick Rose eats candy and sugary snacks before he plays.

But those guys have iron stomachs. They don't get nervous. Us mere mortals get nervous and puke when we drink Fruit Punch and play.

You should just eat your normal meals...unless it's all McDonald's...
