  1. you just have to deal with the pain cause when you get your braces on they will hurt more

  2. Yikes - been there, done that, and I remember it well.  The only thing that ever worked for me was Extra Strength Bufferin.  I'm not even sure it's still sold in stores, but I remember taking Ibuprophen, Tylenol, and a few others, but it was the same result you had.  All that worked was Extra Strength Bufferin.  Since that's just asprin, I'm wondering if you might get the same benefit from popping 3 Bayer Asprin.  Might at least be worth a try, right?  Good luck!  And I promise you, it will all be worth it in the end!  The day you get those braces off, you'll just stare at yourself in the mirror and know it was all worth it!

  3. spacers suck. There's not much more you can do than what you tried already. Other things to consider are perhaps a warm wash cloth or cold wash cloth to help with the swelling.

  4. Spacers tend to give the most discomfort during the whole orthodontic procedure. Fortunately, it only lasts about a week.

We recommend to our patients Advil Liquigels.  Depending on your age and weight start with 3, then reduce to 2 every 4 hours.

Advil "Liquigels" enter your bloodstream the quickest and will provide the fastest relief.  More so than a prescription strength Motrin 800.

As with any drug read the lable to make sure you have no adverse medical condition when taking ibuprofen.

You may also consider a softer diet during this time period.

  5. Hello! I got spacers the other day too. They hurt, don't they? I've taken a lot of Ibuprofen also, and it doesn't do too much. I tried the Orajel, and that didn't help either. What I've discovered works the best is just limiting the chewing I do. If you grind your teeth, try to stop that. If you have been eating any solid foods, try eating softer foods. Just think, you'll get them off pretty soon. Good luck, and let me know how it goes for you!
