What can I do to fix my LG DVD player with no sound using HDMI?

I have an LG DVD player with HDMI. It also has a memory card slot that can be used to play Divx movies. When I use the HDMI, the sound when playing DVDs is crackly, but when playing a Divx movie with a memory card, the sound is just fine. Also, the sound is fine when playing a DVD using just standard RCA stereo cables. I've tried different HDMI cables, but with the same results. To sum it up, the only problem is the crackly sound when trying to play a DVD through an HDMI cable.

  1. Check the audio settings on the player.  It sounds like when watching a dvd the hdmi is sending out a digital signal that doesn't agree with your system.
