I have been having problems with my connection. I have windows xp sp2, a dsl connection (don't know how many kb/s) and i use safari but have internet explorer too. my problem started some months ago when i downloaded a internet accelerator program and i changed a setting that supposedly would make my connection times better. But it only made my browsers unavailable to connect (both). But after a lot of methods i restored my computer. But now I can't surf using Internet Explorer, I can't connect to iTunes Store and if i update Safari it doesn't connect. I would be very grateful if you could help me.

  1. typical.. uninstall and reinstall IE or try upgrading to firefox http://imperviouscomputer.com/your-compu...

  2. Well it sounds like you could have a number of things going on but the first thing I would try is running a program called WinsockXPFix found here:

It is pretty self-explanatory to run. You'll have to download using a working computer and copy over to your internet-less computer by some means (flash drive, CD, floppy, etc.) Once you have it on your broken computer, run WinsockXPFix and follow the prompts.  It will even make a backup of your registry if you click ReG-Backup (in case you need to undo the changes).  Click fix and it should perform any repairs needed. Then it will reboot the system. Hopefully after the reboot you're back online!

    Good luck!
