My sister is a sophomore in high school right now and so far has a 4.0 GPA. She's joined a few clubs already, although I'm unsure as of right now what those are. I was just wondering what types of things she can do so when she applies for Stanford she'll get in.

  1. if shes ure apply early decision. do charity work but not too much or you'll seem undedicated to 1-2 causes. same with sports and clubs. she should try to be president of a club er something. good luck to yur "sister"

  2. Stanford accepted less than 11% of applicants last year.  A 4.0 will help, but certainly won't guarantee she'll get in.  If she wants to go to Stanford, having some experience in the field she's interested in would be a big plus.  Engineering, science, math - do summer programs at colleges, try to get involved with outreach or even a research project, NASA summer programs, etc.  I'm assuming if she's dead-set on Stanford she's not planning to go into a department they aren't big on.  To go there and NOT major in one of the fields that makes Stanford a top school just seems like a waste.

  3. your sister? sureeeeeeee...
