I'm a freshmen and high school, and I've decided when I'm older to join the FBI. I've read the FBI jobs site, and I know what critical skills I should learn, but truthfully I don't know what to do in college, or high school that would put me on track to join the FBI...Seriously, I know I should learn either accounting, computer science, foreign language (useful to the feds), or have experience as military, police,or etc..

but what classes do I take? And What Do I Do, like prior jobs, and other useful information?

I definitely want to

take a class on psychology, and criminology,

For your information: I want to be a special agent, and be involved in criminal investigation, because I want to have a "each day's different"

life, even though i do realize that being the Feds in the cubicles have different problems, I like being out in different environments ...

  1. The FBI wants accountants, computer specialists and lawyers.  It's fine to take a course or two in psych or criminology but the FBI wants people with specific skills.

The FBI performs very detailed background checks on applicants.  Be prepared to wait more than a year after applying.

  2. This is a quote from the official FBI Site:

"The FBI has a critical need to hire new Special Agents and Professional Support personnel to support and to carry out the honorable mission of the FBI. These vital roles help the agency continue to meet the challenge of global terrorism and homeland security.

In working for the FBI, you will have a daily impact on the nation's security and the quality of life for all U.S. Citizens. A career with the FBI will provide you with a challenging, compelling, and rewarding experience."
