  1. If you are looking to have a higher take home pay, and get less refund later, then you can modify your W-4.   Here is a copy of the form, along with easy to us instructions:  http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw4.pdf   T

    The worksheet on page 2 will help you calculate the correct numbers to use.


  2. Claim more allowances on your W-4, and they'll take out less.  Be careful not to claim so many that you end up owing.  For each $500 you got in your refund, you can probably safely add one allowance unless you make a lot of money.

  3. If you want a more accurate number to see how your taxes are deducted based upon your W-4 filing, read IRS Publication 15.

  4. Increase the number of allowances you declare on your W-4 form.
