Question:

What can I do to get my backhandspring?!?

I have a back handspring tuck on the power track, but as soon as I go to try it on the ground or on the gymnastics mats I can't throw it! My body freezes and I'm absolutly terrified to throw it! I've been doing it over the octagon at the gym. I have an amazing roundoff and everyone (All-star cheerleaders who did our cheer camp and my gymnastics instuctors) says my rebound has enough height and power to throw a tuck or a handspring. Should I try for the tuck? I feel more comfortable throwing a tuck just because I'm higher off the ground. What do you guys think?!

  1. Well remember after you're round off you should be falling backward. If you try s back tuck it will go back, no up losing the height you need. It can still be done, but it's harder than doing it out of back handspring.

Try the back handspring first and don't hesitate as soon as you get out of the round off sit and go!

You'll never be able to do anything good, like a full, if you cannot get over the fear of the bhs.
