Question:

What can I do to help animals?

Me and a few friends have put together a small group at school and would like to do something to help various animals OUTSIDE of school

Because we are all under the age of 18, it is almost impossible for us to work directly with animals (animal shelters etc)

We've all been trying to brainstorm ideas of what we could all do, but besides protests, nothing really comes to mind

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

  1. See if you can set up an aluminum can recycling in your school and donate money to animal shelters.  That is simple and it does work... it take a lot, but works.  Or you and your friends can collect dog/cat food for shelters.  They also need baby food... for young cats.  Or even cat litter... all of this really helps!

  2. try goin

    and volunteerin

    at a zoo

    o/ sumtin close to that.

    try walking dogs.

    if u see an animal

    hurt help it...

    yeah

    try animal shelterss.

  3. I'm 13 and I volenteer at an animal shelter! It's a small place but it saves thousands of dogs a year. I walk dogs there once a week, the dogs walk atleast a mile every day. It's really acctually fun and it feels good to help. Usualy you can volenteer if you have a parent with you, you just need to find a place. Another great thing to do is have a bake sale or a car wash, or sell things, and then donate the money to a humane dog shelter. It's a fun way to help animals!

  4. ah im so glad i read this.

it makes me happy to see other people who love, care for and wanna help animals.

if you are against vivisection or animal testing you should start finding and signing petitions to stop the cruelty.

    or start your own petition.

go to peta.com (youve probably already done this though)

or go here and consider signing this petition (and tell your friends)  http://www.wspa-usa.org/pages/1706_anima...

also, here are some organizations that ypou and your friends can get involved in..... theres probably one close to your area. http://www.animalsmatter.org/code/coalit...

  5. donations is one way

  6. Ask you school if you can set up a table outside the cafeteria.

Then have a donation box.  Most kids don't like to carry pocket change ,so maybe they will give their left over lunch money into your worthy cause.

  7. "Almost" doesn't mean impossible.  Area that I live in - ANYONE if they are willing to help - can help at the animal shelter if they call and set up a time - even if under 18.

Have you adopted any animal/s that need a loving home?

Have you given food to any of the local shelters to see that they have enough food to feed the animals?

What about offering to take photos of the animals and posting them around the area with the story of the animal to help adopt them out from the local shelters?

There are organizations you can be part of that open their homes to animals in need so that they don't have to live within a shelter - have you thought of doing that?

There are many things that any can do and don't have to be over 18 to do it.

  8. ok well i also would like to help animals and i know what you mean about being to young because i want to help at the rspca but you have to be 15. Well hers a couple of ideas.

    1. Try to raise money for the rspca or animals shelters.

The rspca need donations because they rely on donations. The government only gives them a quater of the money that they need. You could sell things like soap and home made things.

    2. you could tell people about how to care for animals and tell them about the rspca.

    3. you could look out for animal cruelty in your local neighbour hood.

4.you could start a dog walking service and walk peoples dogs and get paid for it. you could give some of the money that you get to the rspca.

    ok hope this helps
