After running less than a mile I get dizzy and I'm gasping for air. Are their some breathing exercises I can do while not running that will help me when I am running?

Thanks

  1. ive been active in sports likke cross country and track recently and at first I had the same problem. Its easy to fix. find a song, and breath along with the tune at a pace that is right for you. breath just a bit faster if you need it, but be careful not to breath to fast, because you could get light headed which is just a pain.

  2. I've been a serious runner for 5 years (Meaning cross country, indoor and outdoor track). I came to my doctor with the same problem and gave me a prescription for an inhaler. He said that I have mild athletic induced Asthma. The inhaler works wonders! I take an asmanex inhaler once every morning when I wake up. Its like a white powder and it really opened up my airways. Good luck!

  3. When running breath in your nose and out of your mouth but if you get dizzy and tired you might want to get checked out cause you could possibly have asthma.

  4. try to breath a bit deeper and nice and slow dont over work yourself i tell my friends who run with me all the time this seems to help

  5. take in a few deep breaths before you start running, this fills your body with oxygen so you dont get out of breath as fast. Also, it sounds like you might be running a little fast cause you are getting dizzy. So i would cut your pace until you get really fit. While your running, breath at a rythmn, this will help you save your breath and keep you breathing and filling your body with oxygen.

If none of this helps, you might have asthma, so i would go see a doctor.

    I hope i helped!

  6. I forgot what it's called but maybe you know what I'm talking about ... you can get it maybe at a drug store but I've only seen people with them that hae been to see a respitory therapist.  its the pump with a ball and a tube you suck into... That helps to expand and excercise your lungs... also I've heard that pineapple is very good for your lungs
