Question:

What can I do to help my husband feel better about not being able to feel the baby move yet?

When I first felt movement, and knew it was the baby, my husband reached over so fast to feel my stomach, then said that he was just going to keep it there until he could feel something.

Now he asks me all the time if I've felt it move again, and puts his hand on my stomach.

I feel so bad, because he is SO eager to feel the baby move himself.

How can I help him feel better about not being able to?

When do you (or others) usually feel movement from the outside?

  1. You have not mentioned  for how many weeks you are pregnant.

Usually fetal movements will felt around 23 week onwards.

For feeling fetal movements , u should first wake up the baby ,U can do so by drinking lot of fluid or walking for 10 mins , then u can rest on the bed for 10 to 15 mins . Then one can feel the fetal movements. Now once u notice fetal movements, let u'r husband put his hand on u'r bump, he can also feel the movement. My wife does this always and i have felt my baby's l movements.

    Congrats on being pregnant.

  2. Tell him he'll get plenty of chances to feel the baby the bigger it gets.

My husband was able to feel it the same time I first did with our daughter but I'm small and lost weight due to severe morning sickness.

Trust me, he will get more then enough chances when the baby gets bigger and stronger.

  3. My hubby apparently has a very calming hand, because it seems every time he tries to feel movement, the baby completely stops. I started feeling movement inside probably around week 18 or 20. However, I couldn't really feel movement from the outside until week 24 or so. Here lately, though, the moving is so pronounced (and my bump is so big... I'm in week 35 with a larger than average little guy in my oven) that you can actually see my belly jumping around (even without my shirt pulled up) from the baby moving. It usually most pronounced when I'm sitting down or lounging on the sofa.

  4. Oh dont you worry he will feel it soon enough depending on your weight and what not. But I first felt it from the outside when i was around 24 weeks! and im not a small girl a lil chunky but not much. So yeah even being " thick" i felt it then! He should be able to feel it soon depending on how far you are! Tell him dont worry there will be like 10 weeks or more straight that it's non stop! Gets kinda annoying after awhile! to moms anyways! Tell him just be patient :)

  5. Tell him to give it time, he WILL definately be able to feel it later on. I am 34 weeks and we can even see the baby moving a lot! My baby is really active while we are at the movie theatre or while I am laying in the bathtub. I have my husband feel my stomach during those times because he can really, really feel him moving then!

  6. this is a great question cause ive been wanting to know the answer too......im in the same boat.....my partner and my three year old daughter want to feel the baby move but even i dont feel much at the moment...im 20 weeks 1 day!! i really hope we can all feel him move soon...how far along are you?

edit:im also not small.....im not huge but fairly chunky!!

  7. well, It all really just depends on each individual person..I am 19 weeks today and my fiance felt the baby for the first time last night while I was laying down...a slight little nudge in the palm of his hand and he's been waiting for that moment for ages.

I find that it helps to be flat on your back and ask him to place his hand gently on your belly, that way the baby won't know he's waiting to feel him hehehehe.
