My son is almost 3 months old. I have noticed lately that he has a lot of problems with gas. I am using those infant gas relief drops but they dont always seem to work. Im using a soy formula so it cant be the milk. The doctor seems to think its normal, but he is in alot of pain until the gas....whether a f**t or burp comes out. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  1. When my kids got gassy I would rub their tummies and it would help a farts come out. Or I would rub and pat their backs longer. There is really nothing else you can do to help your little one. My second daughter had gas really bad when she was a baby. I would just rub her little tummy until she fell asleep. And after she ate I would always make sure to pat her back even after she had let out a burp just to make sure the gas was moved. Have a great night and God bless.

  2. Make sure you're burping baby well - some babes prefer burping over your shoulder, others burp better sitting on your lap with your hand supporting their chin, and still others prefer on their tummies.  Most burp better by patting, but some do burp better with rubbing in circles or combination of both.

To help with gas, one of the best things Ive found is to take a clean baby diaper, pour water in it - soak it, wrap it in a tea towel or baby blanket, and heat it up in the microwave - warm it, not too hot!!  Then, place it over your baby's tummy not directly on skin! - and just hold it on or your can wrap a blanket around to keep in it place and cuddle him to soothe while letting the heat dissipate the gas.  You can also lay your baby slightly upright on your leg, pillow, or boppy, and scrunch up his legs towards his stomach for a few seconds, release, and repeat.  Laying him on his left side will also help with digestion and peristalsis in getting the bowels moving.  Good luck!

  3. What about changing the formula? I have use BioGaia drops they work really great. They are probiotic

  4. Try burping him more frequently during feedings. Also check the opening in the nipple - if it's too big, he's gulping the formula, and if it's too small, he's swallowing a lot of air when he's sucking. You can use the gas drops up to three times a day with the feedings, and some babies are more gassy than others.

  5. I began soy with my daughter but because of the problems with tummy our doctor had us change to Gentlease formula...by the way it's almost 10 dollars cheaper at target the target brand equivilant, and she was just as happy with it.

  6. gripe water

  7. Wrap a blanket around him, from under his arms (so his stomach is wrapped) quite tight. Then lay him on his stomach over your knee ( on a flatt pillow if you wish) & pat and rub his back gently. That might work, as done for me in the past.

  8. ok my mom is a nurse and she gets a bottle with a little sugar in water and if that doesnt help then go and get some stuff at a store for infants that has to do with the gas.

  9. you can try to change his formula again maybe to carnation . sometimes the soy doesnt sit well. also switch to the drop in bottles that you can get the air out of the bottles. also I had to switch nipples for my son a few times to find one he could close is mouth around properly. the first few he didnt have a good seal on and was taking in excess air.

also with my son I have better luck it I have him sit up and bend him forward a little bit. he presses his stomach and releases gas faster.

  10. hylands colic tablets

  11. Try rubbing his belly for a while. Also, you can take his legs and move them like he is riding a bicycle (that will help him go to the bathroom.

  12. Onion Tea. I know it sounds weird but it works. My son was so uncomfortable but this works. Cut onions in to rings and then boil it in water. After add some sugar and let it cool down a little and then give him the tea. Good luck and it works, please try.
