My mom smokes and it makes me literally sick. I close my vent and door and can still smell it. It gets into my clothes too. She has closed her door as well. I was thinking about buying one of those air purifiers for my room, but they are expensive. But I would be willing to buy one if someone can tell me if they do indeed work. Because cigarette smoke is so strong and just takes over in my mom's house. WHat about spray? Like Lysol? Will Lysol get rid of the smoke? Not just the smell, but the smoke itself so that I won't inhale it. And please don't tell me to tell my mom to smoke outside because she won't do that. And don't tell me to move out because I just move in because I am having finacial difficulty. If you don't have any ideas don't tell me anything stupid. I will report you.

  1. Anything you spray will just be one more irritant for your lungs.  The only thing that could help is to get a fan and blow in fresh air from outside.  Open your windows.  Sorry the situation your in stinks.

  2. definitly spend the money and get an air purifier. they do work. My parent's have one in their bedroom even though no one smokes in thier house. It helps with the dust and other pollens in the air, not just the smoke. You can find them reasonably priced at Sam's Club. I would make sure your a/c filters are being changed every 2-3 weeks instead of monthly (helps with the electic bill too). Also, I believe there is an ash tray with a filter on it that you can buy at walgreens, CVS etc. get her one of those to help. use Fabreeze all over the house and open windows when possile to help air the house out. The only other way is to remove all the carpeting in the house and repaint the walls.

    Best of luck.

  3. There is a malodor ( smoke is a malodor) spray called Gleme made by Claire Manufacturing that helps remove the smell of cigarettes. I've also used a rolled up towel shoved under the bottom of my door to keep the smell out.

  4. Buy an air purifier.
