What can I do to lose weight by the summer?

I am a short 16 years old in the eleventh grade and I weigh 170 pounds. And I want to lose weigh by april or may 2009 because I want to look different for my senior year. The least i can get to is 157 or down to 150. Especially when I go to the prom. I have a few exercise tapes in my house. I have 2 taebo (billy blanks) tapes, 3 firm (ab, cardio, and body sculpt)tapes, 1 belly dancing exercise tape, 2 denise austin tapes, an 8 minute abs tape, and a few yoga tapes that I recorded from the television. I tried to exercise everyday with a different tape but I always have homework and it slows me down. What can I do to lose weight without slacking up with my work? Please help!

  1. First, take your weight in pounds, add a zero to the end and that's how many calories you should eat everyday to lose weight. (example: 250 pounds = 2,500 calories per day) You will have to adjust your caloric intake as you lose weight.

    Then, plan your meals off of the basic food pyramid.

    Water is also very important!

    Take your weight in pounds and that's how much water you should drink in oz. everyday. (example: 250 pounds = 250 oz.)

    1 cup is approx. 8 oz.

    Daily physical activity is not required but if you want to boost your weight loss and tone up then you should be physically active 30-60 minutes per day.

    Remember this is a gradual proses, it doesn't happen over night.

  2. i am the same age as you and ive been trying to lose weight too. I now look leaner but only lost about 10 lbs since ive been doing things to gain muscle, and muscle weighs more than fat.  You should eat every 2-3 hours, but only 3 main meals (bfast, lunch dinner). All the other meals should be fruits and veggies and stuff.  If you search online you can find a list of negative calorie foods.  Eat alot of those everyday and you will be in good shape.  Also try to do some kind of workout every day, but not working out the same muscle group 2 days consecutively.  incorporate cardio into this.  I believe the working out and eating the fruits and veggies will raise your metabolism and also when you gain muscle, you lose calories while resting if you keep your workout schedule going.  You don't even have to do a very intense workout.  Gaining muscle also helps when your doing cardio, also causing you to lose more calories, and cardio can also help your weight lifting because it gives you more endurance.  Just make sure to make your workout harder the stronger you get.

  3. i have done taebo and its great you dont have to do it everyday if u dont want to..maybe like 3 times a week or something and running is good for you to..and try to drink a lot of water.

Aim to eat 2000 (2500 for a boy) calories a day, Don't listen to Lipgloss because if you ate  1000 calories your brain would think that your body is starving itself and it would keep hold of your fat and burn off your lean muscle making it even harder for you to lose weight. Aim to lose 2 pound a week that is a healthy option, I am in a similar position, I am 180lbs and 5''3 and I want to lose weight by May so I can go only holiday with my friends and not be labelled as the fat one (they are all skinny) I would like to go down to about 115 or so, Pick a day for you to do physical exercise and STICK to it, I have already lost some weight this and it is a healthy way. Please don't do it in an unhealthy way because you will put the weight back on and not look like you want to. If you want anymore tips please email me.x

    PLUS Try to drink 2litres of water a day. Put it in a bottle so you don't feel obliged to drink it at once, and just fill it up accordingly.. If its 500ml fill it 4 times throughout the day, If it is 1l fill it twice, and this way you KNOW you get enough =]

    AND Don't make really big goals like 10 pounds in a week because you won't be able to stick to it and you will feel less motivated to keep trying so just do little at a time.

    AND Try to walk 10000 steps a day, ok thats enough from me =]
