What can I do to make a charity family fun day actually fun?

  1. Make sure there are plenty of activities.  Things like face painting and bouncy castles are always fun.  Try and get local businesses involved.  Our local Rotary have some fairground stalls - coconut shy (I know its not spelt right but can't remember the right way!), fling the hoop, dunking ducks for the kids.  Get a big barbacue going and try and have music.  If using local musicians, make sure they are OK first!  See if someone from the local football club can come down and get  football school going? Some silly things like dunking apples are quite good fun.  Keep it as cheap or free as possible.  Delegate all you can.  You can't do it all on your own!  Do plenty of advertising or you will not get many people.
