What can I do to make my computer go fast again?

Question

Here was the problem:

My brother began watching free movies online and kept surfing the internet.

Now as soon as I went on the computer, I saw so many pop-ups, about 60 of them.

And there was this thing on my toolbar called "MIRAR".

I deleted that but now there are still pop-ups, and it's going really slow.

I need something that I don't have to download, so it can be fast again without my Dad knowing It's doing this, because he'd fixed it several times and the last time he's done it, he said that was the last time.

My computer is called "HP" also.

& I will be choosing best answer.

delete mirar could be virus or spy-ware and get a free anti-virus program eg avg 8.0. there could be viruses on your computer slowing it down or has your brother been downloading stuff? it could slow down the pc by using all that memory...

Your brother has downloaded a pile of c**p with his online movie watching, you need to download anti spyware and anti virus software and run them to clear out whatever they can.  Also open up Internet Options in the Control Panel and delete Cookies and temporary files that were downloaded during  your brothers time on the net.  Also make sure the Pop up Blocker is ticked under the Privacy tab.  Do a Disk Cleanup aswell.

For running slow there are many causes:

Microsoft Registry Problems = Slow Computer!

Spyware/Adware

RAM

De-Fragmenting

Etc.

Below can help you speed up your pc:

For  IE, click Tools, Internet Options  delete files (offline files) clear history (set days to save to 0 if you want) click o.k., and Restart

For Firfox, press ctrl+shift+del, and click clean private data.

Manage your startup:

Open your Start menu  ->  Click Run ->  In the command screen type "msconfig.exe" ->  In the "system configuration utility", click either "service" or "startup" tab ->  Uncheck all programs that your are no longer using.

De-Fragmenting

1. Right click of C Disk.

2. Click properties.

3. Click tools tab.

4. Click "Defragment now".

5. Click Defragment.

You can search which process full use you cpu, and end the process.

Under steps:

1. right click on the TaskBar.

2. click the Task Manager.

3. click the processes tab.

4. double click the CPU.

5. find if the "System Idle Process" is max.

6. if not right click and click end process.

You obviously have some spyware/adware issues. Your best bet is to format and reinstall windows. You can try running spybot or adaware to remove it.

Deleting Mirar will not remove it. You need to uninstall it in order to remove the registry entries and other associated software.

See this page. I would use the manual removal myself, but if you are uncomfortable working with the registry, other removal methods are offered.
