What can I do to make my fuel gage accurate?

I have a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier. My problem is is that my gas gage isn't in its right place. Most of the time when I'm driving it's on or close to F but SOMETIMES when I stop it goes to it's original place which is most likely close to E. What needs to me done to fix this problem? I was told I could solve this problem just by filling up my tank to adjuct my floater because when my car is still it usually goes back to the right setting.

usually its close to F and then usually when i stop it goes back to the right setting I NEED HELP PLEASE !

i dont think its the just the floater maybe u need to get a whole gas pump?
